The National Orchid Garden

Okay – the anticipation is over! Here are some pictures from the National Orchid Garden (housed within the S’pore Botanical Gardens). Enjoy!

(Above & Below: Plumeria sp. 'Apocynaceae')

Above: Cattleya Hybrid; most orchids need to be supported by something else, so you will see "trees" like this and arbors to display the orchids.

(Above: The Vanda Miss Joaquim Orchid Plant - explanation below)

(Above: Vanda Miss Joaquim Orchid - S'pore National Flower)

Above: Nelson Mandela Orchid - for a very large price orchids can be named after someone; though in this case, I think it's quite an honor for a great man.

Above: I get to be surrounded by orchids for eternity. This "tunnel" has mirrors on both sides that enables you to take a picture and make it seem you are completely surrounded by beautiful flowers - forever!

Above: The yellow orchids hanging from these moss covered arbors were being hand-placed as I walked by.
